The drawings by artist Tanja Röser, born in 1994, are compositions that are symbolically charged yet often open to multiple interpretations. A recurring theme is emancipation, usually that of a female figure. In terms of content, the artist draws on historical figures and/or outdated role models. However, through the use of multi-layered symbolism and a style that feels familiar - especially to younger generations - due to its stylistic similarities to comics/manga or video games, the artist transposes her themes into the here and now.
In addition to her masterful drawing technique, Tanja Röser consistently places a strong emphasis on the material and the method of presentation. She therefore enjoys working with different types of paper as a drawing surface or experimenting with alternative ways of displaying her work.
